Watermark Best Practices

• Faculty should document in Watermark. (Everyone has access to Watermark in the absence of the employee) It doesn’t/didn’t occur if it isn’t documented.
• Students should be introduced to Watermark in orientation and introduced to its functions.

• Select to be informed by Advisees and Students I follow

Alerts

The following alerts should be selected:

• Low current grade
• Low overall GPA
• Staff Initiated Alerts

Staff Initiated Alerts-Email goes to staff, and it is currently set at no to go to students

Current Grade Alert-

• Set at 75% 
• Repeats in (7) Days
• Alert states- Students has a current email of 73.67%

Overall GPA Alert

• Threshold 2.3
• Repeats in (7) day s

Attendance

• Absent, no entry
• Number of days Past Term St to Run At (4) Days 

LMS Course Login

• Only applies to online classes
• Number of days since Login (7)
• Number of days repeating (7) 

Optional Selections:

• Lack of registration
• Missing every meeting during the first week of an in-person class
• Not attending an on-ground class
• Not logging on to an online class

Achievements

The following alerts should be selected:

• Current Grade
• Middle Term Grade

Optional Selections:

• Final Grade

Events

• Staff member adds a note to Advisee
• When I become a Student’s Advisor/Coach
• Student Drops or Withdraws from a course

Optional Selections:

• Staff member closes an alert for My Advisee
• Staff member follows My Advisee
• Student views their Plan
• Student submits a Plan
• Staff submits a plan to My Advisee
• Staff approves a plan for My Advisee
• Student that I advise has an excused absence

 Special Occasions

All special occasion alerts should be optional

Caseload-Automatically follow students who enrolled in current courses that I instruct
