    Welcome to the Instructor Moodle Training course! You have been enrolled in this course because either you are newly employed at R-CCC, there have been significant changes to Moodle, or your supervisor has requested you take this as a refresher. You have 30 days from your enrollment to complete this course. Feel free to download/bookmark any resources you find helpful and know that all of these resources and more are available on the Instructor Resources Hub located under "Instructor Links" in the Moodle navigation bar.

    By the end of this course, you will be able to:

    • Implement R-CCC's quality standards for Moodle courses.
    • Plan and build content in your Moodle courses.
    • Set up and maintain your Moodle gradebook.
    • *Utilize accessibility tools both in and outside of Moodle to create content that complies with accessibility requirements. 
    • *Direct students with accessibility issues to proper points of assistance

    Navigate through the course by clicking on the Table of Contents links on the left or the arrows that appear at the bottom of each page. When you meet the complete a course resource or activity, a green check mark will appear in the box to the top right of each activity or resource. Some items like lessons and quizzes will be automatically checked as complete. For other items such as URL links and reading materials, you will have the option to click the circle to check it as complete. Be sure to mark all materials as complete once you have finished with those resources to keep you on track. Earn a digital badge by completing the Quiz and Course Evaluation in the Course Completion topic!

In this topic, you will learn the basics of course management within a Moodle course. Moodle's gradebook and report features are valuable management tools for teachers. The gradebook should be set up before students begin using the course. The gradebook also serves as the location for teachers to regulate student progress throughout the course.

    It is critical for instructors to implement accessibility measures throughout the planning, design, and development stages of a Moodle course. Accessibility tools benefit all learners, and it is a federal requirement that all online content is accessible to all students. NCCCS is provided access to the Brickfield Accessibility+ toolkit to tackle many common accessibility issues in online content within Moodle.

    Upon completing this topic, you'll be able to:

    • List the basic capabilities of the Brickfield Accessibility+ toolkit.
    • Interpret and correct accessibility errors in your course using the Brickfield Accessbility+ toolkit's wizards and reports.
    • Implement basic tenets of accessibility when creating files external to Moodle.
    • Direct students with accessibility issues to proper sources of assistance.
